Governor Kemp Proclaims Computer Science Education Week and Hour of AI

Governor Brian Kemp has proclaimed November 1, 2025, as Computer Science Education Week, highlighting the crucial role that computer science plays in transforming society, fostering innovation and economic opportunity.

ATLANTA, GA- Governor Brian Kemp has proclaimed November 1, 2025, as Computer Science Education Week, a statewide initiative for schools, educators, students, and companies to engage in hands-on activities involving coding and AI.

Computer Science Education Week highlights the crucial role that computer science plays in transforming society, fostering innovation and economic opportunity. Kemp recognizes that computing technology is deeply embedded in modern culture and transforms how individuals interact with one another around the world.

Kemp’s proclamation promotes AI literacy, referring to the technical knowledge, durable skills, and future-ready attitudes required to thrive in a world influenced by AI.

TAG Education Collaborative partners with Code.org to engage learners through an Hour of AI during Georgia’s Day of Code, on December 5, 2025. According to Kemp’s proclamation, the Hour of AI will “enable learners to engage with, create with, manage, and shape AI, while critically evaluating its benefits, risks, and ethical implications”.

The proclamation further asserts that AI literacy is necessary for both economic strength and national security. By engaging with AI literacy during the Hour of AI in TAG-Ed’s Georgia Day of Code, students can demystify this field and encourage further learning and exploration.

Finally, Governor Kemp urges students to “move from being mere users of AI to thoughtful creators, capable of shaping how AI moves and evolves.”

Students in grades K-12 can access no-cost AI training, including an Hour of AI through a partnership with Code.org, by virtually attending Georgia’s Day of Code on December 5, 2025, from 9:30am to 2:30pm.
