Donations will support hands-on learning in robotics, engineering, AI, and advanced manufacturing.
ATLANTA, GA — August 25 — TAG Education Collaborative (TAG-Ed), a nonprofit 501(3) organization committed to preparing Georgia’s future workforce, today announced the latest recipients of its TAG-Ed STEM Kit Program. Seven schools and organizations across Georgia received LEGO® Education Computer Science & AI kits from TAG-Ed at no cost, expanding access to hands-on learning in STEM, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, engineering, and advanced manufacturing.
Through the program, qualifying schools, nonprofits, libraries, community organizations, and youth-serving agencies received 348 LEGO Education kits designed to supplement existing educational programs while strengthening critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and workforce readiness skills that align with Georgia’s high-demand technology industries.
“Preparing Georgia’s future workforce starts by giving young people meaningful opportunities to explore technology long before they enter the workplace. Through our TAG-Ed STEM Kit Donation Program, we are expanding access to hands-on STEM learning that helps students build confidence, curiosity, and critical problem-solving skills while introducing them to fields such as AI, robotics, engineering, and advanced manufacturing. We are especially proud to help bring these experiences to rural and underserved communities where access to emerging technology resources can make a lasting difference,” said Dr. Loretta Daniels, Executive Director of TAG-Ed.
Among this round’s recipients is Jefferson West Elementary School, where a first-grade teacher will introduce young learners to foundational STEM concepts through play-based exploration.
“First graders learn best through tactile, playful exploration. For this age group, LEGO® Education Computer Science & AI Kits K-2 will be used to build foundational cognitive and motor skills. This early exposure to these skills can spark a lifelong interest in many areas. Building structures like towers or bridges to test their structure, working together as a team, and overcoming challenges of failure can all be learned and practiced at this young age,” said a first-grade teacher at Jefferson West Elementary School.
The teacher noted the anticipated impact will extend well beyond the classroom. “This project will create a long-term ripple effect, turning our young learners into confident problem-solvers and building a foundation of creators and future leaders. The project will also help introduce our students to STEM opportunities they otherwise would not have in our rural area. We can also use these kits at our annual grandparents’ days to help showcase students’ work and create activities for students and grandparents to participate in together.”
Another recipient, WS College Career and Academy, will incorporate the kits into its AI and robotics curriculum and community outreach efforts.
“We will use LEGO® Education Computer Science & AI kits in AI & Robotics classes, after-school programs, STEM nights, and district outreach events. Students will build, code, and solve real-world engineering challenges while exploring careers in technology,” said an AI & Robotics Instructor at WS College Career and Academy.
The instructor added that the kits are expected to broaden access to STEM across the district. “The kits will expand access to hands-on STEM learning for underserved students, increase interest in STEM careers, and support the K-12 robotics pipeline. The kits will also engage families and help bring STEM opportunities to more schools across our district.”
As a charitable donation from TAG-Ed, the kits advance STEM learning and career pathway opportunities for the learners in rural and underserved communities in Georgia.
